Saturday night, MINT hosted an exhibition made to be stolen. The artists were responsible for creating the art as well as “security devices” for protection.

I came prepared.

But most of the pieces were protected by more than iron bars or heavy chains.

Still, at least I was able to use my Comically Oversized Wire Cutters.

Most people took the more direct approach.

Too bad you can’t hear the alarm… One painting made it upstairs, where it then passed to an accomplice—through the second-story window.

By 11:20, the entire place had been stripped bare—almost two dozen pieces gone in less than two hours. Apparently, towards the end, thieves started bum-rushing the door en masse. It was pandemonium.
Although MINT Gallery scheduled a closing event for the show, they will be announcing a replacement soon. (Since, of course, all the art is gone.) “Steal This Art Show” was organized by Click Clique.
