Sally Heller's installation at Whitespace, In the Thicket of It, transforms an entire room into a fully 3D experience. Photo courtesy the artist and Whitespace Gallery.

In conjunction with her exhibit at Whitespace Gallery, Sally Heller agreed to record a pilot episode for what might become a regular BURNAWAY.org podcast feature. In the Thicket of It will remain on view through this Saturday, November 21. See below for the audio player and more photographs of Heller’s work.

soooo glad burnaways will do podcasts!. . .they might be more dynamic, though, if they were dialogues as opposed to the artist reading her statement. . .

just a thought, love out –kt

“love out,” kt? i thought our style was to always leave the love in?

ditto on the podcasts statement. i’m always open to trying new things. it’s a work in progress. :-)

Looking forward to getting to Whitespace to see this. Love the podcasts. For this kind of installation, another interactive I love is the time-series view of the installation. If you haven’t all seen it, Ernesto Neto’s “Anthropodino” show at the Armory was awesome–and their view of the show going up was very cool. http://www.armoryonpark.org/index.php/programs_events/detail/ernesto_neto_in_the_wade_thompson_drill_hall/

thanks for the link! I love when we give good links : )

anyhow, it’s funny you mention Ernesto Neto’s installation (beautiful example). looking at the time lapse, it was apparently popular with the kids. (I’m also wondering about the “Wade Thompson hall”. . . is that atlanta’s wade thompson?) there’s a correlation to thicket. . .I went by the last day of the show at whitespace this past saturday. . .and indeed susan bridges said the children really got it. we discussed how the work would be great at the children’s musuem. . .

like planting trees, making things for children is easily accepted as good & successful. but alas, installations are playgrounds for everyone. and they don’t always have to be made of bright colors. . .

    love in –kt
