JANUARY

First Annual Atlanta Fringe Festival
Admitted applicants receive a slot in the Atlanta Fringe Festival schedule.
Deadline: January 3

Established during the summer of 2010, Atlanta Fringe has been active in pulling together a number of enthusiastic artists and performers interested in presenting innovative, progressive works of diverse and multicultural artistic expression. For its first Atlanta Fringe Festival, the group seeks a variety of artists, performers, musicians, and writers to submit the “riskiest, edgiest, most interesting performance you have to offer.” For more information on the group and how to apply, visit the AFF website.

Lagrange National XXVII Call for Entries
Purchase grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to winning artists.
Deadline: January 4

The Lamar Dodd Art Center of Legrange College are the Legrange Art Museum are offering artists in three categories (paintings, prints, and drawings, photography, and ceramics, sculpture, and decorative arts) up to $15,000 in purchase awards. The purchased works will be added to the permanent collections of the college and the museum. All submitted works must have been completed within the past two years. Embracing Our Differences: The Annual Outdoor Art Exhibit Celebrating Diversity
Three artists will receive $1,000 each.
Deadline: January 9

Embracing Our Differences is an outdoor exhibition that takes place annually in Sarasota, Florida. With the intent of spreading awareness of the ways in which diversity enriches life and culture, Embracing Our Differences calls on artists of all mediums to submit works that promote and engage the value of diversity. Winners will be chosen in three categories: Best in Show (Adult), Best in Show (Student), and People’s Choice. For more information on the exhibition and how to apply, visit their website.

Lust: Call for Photographs
Winners will be featured in an exhibition at the Jennifer Schwartz Gallery, in Fraction Magazine, or on The Ten.
Deadline: January 16

Jennifer Schwartz Gallery and Fraction Magazine are calling for photographs representing images of lust. Three grand prize winners will be given an opportunity to present their work in the gallery, online on The Ten, or in an issue of Fraction Magazine. Georgia Council for the Arts Project Grants
Individuals and groups may receive funding for specific arts projects in Georgia.
Deadline: January 25

The Georgia Council of the Arts has just opened a new round of grants open to artists, artist communities, and arts organizations. Apogaea: Colorado’s Regional Burn First Round Grants
Winning proposals will receive up to $20,000 to complete work for Apogaea.
Deadline: January 25

Apogaea, the outdoor arts and music festival in the Colorado mountains akin to the Burning Man festival, is now accepting proposals for arts projects to be displayed during the festival. Flux Projects Freedom Project Call for Proposals
Winning project proposals will be awarded a budget of up to $10,000.
Deadline: January 27

Flux Projects is teaming up with the Freedom Park Conservancy to offer up to $10,000 for temporary public arts projects to be displayed in Freedom Park this summer. Works will remain on display for at least a month and should engage a broad audience. Find out more on the Flux Projects website.

ATHICA Call for Entries: Upcycle
Chosen artists will present their work from March 31 to May 20, 2012, in an exhibition at the Athens Institute for Contemporary Art.
Deadline: January 30

Curators Lizzie Zucker Saltz and Valerie Mathews, in collaboration with the Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) and the A-CC Recycling Division, are accepting proposals and works of art focused on upcycling, a process that requires no expended energy in reinventing discarded objects. In addition to submissions of wearable art, home décor, and architectural design, the curators are also open to including performances, lectures, and presentations on the theme. FEBRUARY

Skowhegan Summer Residency Program
Live/work spaces are available for 65 successful application for nine summer weeks working closely with prominent artist and scholars to develop new projects.
Deadline: February 1

The Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture is now accepting applications for its summer residency program. Established in 1946, the summer program, located in Madison, Maine, works to bring together a talented and diverse group of artists to offer “the most stimulating and rigorous environment possible for a concentrated period of artistic creation, interaction, and growth.” Applicants work closely with experienced faculty members, while also receiving further instruction and guidance from a series of visiting lecturers and artists. Art Renewal Center 2011/2012 International Salon
Award recipients may receive up to $10,000 and will be featured in the Art Renewal Center catalogue.
Deadline: February 1

The Art Renewal Center is calling on all realist artists to submit works for their 8th annual international competition. A variety of awards, some up to $10,000, will be awarded to artists in various categories, including figurative, landscape, animals, still life, sculpture, and drawing. The Scholastic Art & Writing Award
The alliance offers over $250,000 in scholarships and awards to winners and their teachers.
Deadline: February 1

Strictly for students in high school, this is one of the oldest and most prestigious youth-arts awards in the nation. The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers continues to promote the creativity of students working in the visual and literary arts. In addition to scholarships and awards, winners will showcase their work in a series of publications and regional and national exhibitions. To find out more, visit them here.

The Kress Project
The project will publish the work of 24 winners and award them $500 each.
Deadline: February 1

In celebration of receiving a collection of Italian Renaissance paintings 50 years ago from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the Georgia Museum of Art (GMOA) is calling on artists to create art in response to the works in this collection. All forms of media are accepted, including visual arts, poetry, academic papers, recipes, and more. For more information on the project and how to apply, visit GMOA’s website.

Atlantic Center for the Arts: Master Artists in Residence Program
The program offers workspace, equipment, and a community of like-minded artists with whom to share ideas for nearly three weeks.
Deadline: February 3 (for residencies beginning May 14, 2012)

Located on the east coast of Central Florida, only seven miles from the beach, the Atlantic Center for the Arts offers artists a quiet location to complete their artistic projects. Resident artists have 24-hour access to personal studios, complete with materials and digital equipment. Financial aid is available to help with the $850 residency fee. Flux 2012 Call for Proposals
Winning proposals will receive a budget of up to $30,000.
Deadline: February 29

Creative Capital Emerging Fields, Performing Arts, and Literature Grants
Professional artists and authors are eligible to receive grants funding for individual projects.

Creative Capital is beginning to accept letters of inquiry on February 5 for individual artists interested in receiving support for their creative endeavors. Offering financial and advisory support to artists in emerging fields, film and video, and performing and visual arts, Creative Capital encourages all artists to apply.
