Photographer and curator Jason Travis uses the words “cornucopia” and “eclectic” to describe Infinity, the group exhibit currently on view at MINT Gallery. Although the idea was simply to showcase some of Travis’ favorite local photographers, the presentation was surprisingly coherent despite the wild range of styles and sizes contributed by nearly 20 artists. It wasn’t quite so eclectic as, say, an installation by Barry McGee. Compared to similar group shows I’ve seen at MINT, viewers seemed to spend more time examining and respecting the artwork and attempting unravel the kaleidoscopic puzzle of frames on each wall. MINT Gallery is open by appointment and for special events. The closing date for Infinity is currently TBA.
