In an unfinished, unpublished draft for an article dated January 4, after stumbling through several false starts attempting to sum up the previous 12 months, I finally concocted an appropriate phrase to describe 2009. I called it The Year of the Ninja.

I want to thank photographers Jessica Horwitz, Faith Ploener, and Sandy Hooper for their brilliant efforts last Friday night. They collectively shot over 200 photos of Le Flash, capturing the action from nearly every possible angle. Still, we couldn’t cover everything; there was simply too much.
